Today I was so exhausted at work that I could barely stay awake. Then I had a red bull. Bare in mind that I never drink red bull, or coffee, or tea. I was buzzing! And then I crashed. So tired.
I filmed “IYA MI KU YEO/death ate my mother” yesterday and the day before, my first short film. It went well. Of course my grand vision was not reached quite as perfectly as I’d hoped, but it’s my first film. It just makes me think about how I need to work more on learning and refining technique. I’m especially happy about one shot, though. It looks stunning and terrifying. Better than I’d imagined, actually.
The only thing that makes me cringe is just that I’ve made such a personal and sentimental film/video. I imagine this is the way most people feel when they are naked — something I’ve never really understood (I’m basically a nudist at heart).
I need to get a video camera of my own so that I can work on my technique. Having rented equipment means we didn’t really have a lot of time to play around. I need to just spend a few months playing with a camera.
Anyways, next month will be all about doing the voice-overs and editing the film.
